Project information

In 2003 the owner decided to tear down the old bridge and replace it by a new bridge with suspended footpath. Regarding the pavement structure, the owner opted for waterproofing bonded throughout to polymer bitumen sheeting and a two-layer, highly stable Gussasphalt pavement. The integrated track trenches were bedded on special elastic mats and backfilled with a specially adjusted Gussasphalt.

Execution

Execution of the waterproofing and paving work was conducted in several phases with full closure of the bridge new building. On account of the changing cross slopes, machine laying was conducted one lane at a time (length approx. 150m, width approx. 6.50m). The mastic asphalt in the track trench was installed by hand.
